On our way, the first day of the journey, and one of the longest legs. We left Carreg Ay Eryr at 8.35 am, after taking Kelsey onto Black Rock Sands for one last run. Luckily, despite going earlier than usual we met Mal, who has thrown the ball for Kelsey on most mornings for the last six months. His own two border collies, Jess and Mungo, get the bum share of the deal, especially while we talk about his experiences with bands such as Motorhead.
Our initial journey was only short, about 5 miles, as we had to stop at Nia’s burger van to drop off two prints for her step mother, and it would have been rude not to have a bacon and sausage barm while we were there. The sat nav said we would be in Ashford in Kent at 3.03 pm, in reality the bad weather and hold ups from two accidents added two hours onto the trip. We eventually arrived at The Drum Inn at 5.15. After checking in we took Kelsey across the fields behind the pub, then after changing, into the Drum for our evening meal.
There is hardish standing for about five motorhomes, plus a good size field for tents and caravans. Besides the food, the main reason for spending the night here is that it is only five miles from the Channel Tunnel.
So bye bye UK early tomorrow morning.
