My work, especially over the last decade, has been strongly concept led. This has not only influenced my personal output, but also my teaching.

One of the advantages of riding a motorcycle is how easy it is to explore new places. One of the advantages of riding a small motorcycle is that you concentrate on the places that you pass through, and not on your riding technique.

Tavira is a historic fishing town on the banks of the Gilão river.  The town has retained much of its historic charm and avoided the commercialisation of modern tourism. The many narrow cooled streets lead to charming small shops or one of the twenty churches. A town square sits at one end of a bridge that reputedly dates back to Roman days and lies adjacent to a shady, semi form...

Olhao is the closest big town to Fuseta. On the advice from Roger, a resident of Fuseta for ten years, I checked the map and saw a nature reserve in what looked like walking distance from the town.  After finding a parking space for my little 125 bike, which is easy in Spain and Portugal as most towns have plenty of dedicated spaces, I set off to explore the town.  Its quite a pr...

Fuseta seems to have a split personality, well in the way that it is spelled.  If in doubt I look at the signage on the Tain stations.  The signs on the building are Fuseta, while the metal signs are Fuzeta.  The same is true throughout the town, both spellings are used.  I have decided to use Fuseta, as this is the spelling used on the council offices.

While out shooting in Frigiliana discussions took place about our direction of travel. It was decided the best plan would be to head towards Portugal. Before crossing the border it was was suggested that we should stop over at Isla Christina, close to the border, to do some shopping.  Certain items are a lot cheaper in Spain than in Portugal so this was our chance to stock up on...

The town of Frigliana has a fascinating history to it.  The hill it is built on apparently saw the final battle with the Moors, with the remains of a fort above the town.  The towns museum is full of artefacts and remains dating back over four thousand years that were found in the many caves around the town.  My plan for the day was to follow a walk that I had downloaded onto my...

Frigliana is a typical ‘white town’ that can be found on a mountain ridge, overlooking the sea in the province of Marbella.  The town was voted the prettiest town in Andalucia by the Spanish tourist board.  It is split into two, the new and the old town.  The old consists of narrow cobbled lanes climbing the steep slopes that it is built on.  The whitewashed buildings, with their...

The beach at Torre del Mar is four kilometres long and is bounded by a wide esplanade with a good variety of trees planted for shade and decoration. This, combined with the many cafes, restaurants and bars, plus numerous fountains and monuments make it an interesting place in the quiet season. A 3.2 kilometre running surface has been create the length of the main part of the beac...

Torre del Mar is one of those seaside resorts that the Spanish flock to during the summer.  In the low season it is a quiet, quite charming town without looking deserted, the way so many resorts look off season.  The first impression is that of space, with wide promenades and parkland, plus the empty car parks at our end of the beach.  As with most Spanish towns that I have visit...
