Tavira is a historic fishing town on the banks of the Gilão river.  The town has retained much of its historic charm and avoided the commercialisation of modern tourism. The many narrow cooled streets lead to charming small shops or one of the twenty churches. A town square sits at one end of a bridge that reputedly dates back to Roman days and lies adjacent to a shady, semi form...

Fuseta is in the centre of an expanse of salt pans, some still used, some derelict.  These give the area an almost surreal feel as you walk amongst the mirror calm pools.  The pans attract a wide variety of wading birds, including flamingos, which for someone who has only seen them in zoos before is surprising.

Fuseta seems to have a split personality, well in the way that it is spelled.  If in doubt I look at the signage on the Tain stations.  The signs on the building are Fuseta, while the metal signs are Fuzeta.  The same is true throughout the town, both spellings are used.  I have decided to use Fuseta, as this is the spelling used on the council offices.

The town of Frigliana has a fascinating history to it.  The hill it is built on apparently saw the final battle with the Moors, with the remains of a fort above the town.  The towns museum is full of artefacts and remains dating back over four thousand years that were found in the many caves around the town.  My plan for the day was to follow a walk that I had downloaded onto my...

Valdevaqueros is a small village near to Tarifa, and was our next stop. This was just a short visit, only two nights. We arrived with thunderstorms and left with them, but the time in between was hot and sunny.  The area is well known for kite and wind surfing with strong, clean winds a regular feature.  The coast of Africa is clearly visible and I was surprised at the size of th...

An exploratory photographic shooting trip to the south of SpainAfter driving 1827 miles from Mossley, thats a total of 51 hours behind the wheel, we have arrived in Cadiz. We started with Black Rock Sands in North Wales to meet up with our friends Emma and Jim. A night in Kent before the Eurotunnel was followed by two stop overs in France and three in Spain before reaching the st...

The second stop was in Chez Gendon, a lovely campsite in the middle of the vineyards in Blaye, south west France.  We only stayed one night but that gave plenty of scope for work.  The front of the campsite faces the vineyards, whilst the rear borders chestnut woodland.  The quite dense chestnut canopy gave the opportunity to play with the pools of light created on the woodland f...
