Fuseta is in the centre of an expanse of salt pans, some still used, some derelict. These give the area an almost surreal feel as you walk amongst the mirror calm pools. The pans attract a wide variety of wading birds, including flamingos, which for someone who has only seen them in zoos before is surprising.
Fuseta seems to have a split personality, well in the way that it is spelled. If in doubt I look at the signage on the Tain stations. The signs on the building are Fuseta, while the metal signs are Fuzeta. The same is true throughout the town, both spellings are used. I have decided to use Fuseta, as this is the spelling used on the council offices.
